How Long Does a Pet Portrait Take to Ship? (And Why)
Share
The honest answer: most US orders deliver in 5-7 days end to end. The preview is instant, the human-review pass takes about 24 hours, and the print + ship adds 3-5 days. Here's exactly what happens at each step.
The short timeline
| Step | Time |
|---|---|
| Upload + free preview generated | 30 seconds |
| You decide + order | Same day |
| Human-review pass | ~24 hours |
| Printed + handed to carrier | 1-2 days |
| Shipping transit (US) | 3-5 days |
| Total (US delivery) | 5-7 days |
Step 1: Preview generation (30 seconds)
The moment you upload a photo and pick a style, our pipeline generates your preview. You see it on the screen in about 30 seconds. If you don't love it, unlimited free re-runs, try a different style, a different photo, request specific changes. No card on file, no charges yet.
Step 2: Ordering (same day, your call)
When the preview looks right, you choose a format (poster / canvas / framed / mug / cards) and check out. The whole step takes about 90 seconds. Bundle discounts (Canvas + Mug −$9, Family 25% off each extra) auto-apply.
Step 3: Human-review pass (~24 hours)
This is the step that other "AI pet portrait" sites skip. Once you order, the portrait lands in our QA queue. A real artist on our team checks five things before it's allowed to print:
- Eyes, pupil alignment, eye-light, expression
- Edges, fur, ears, contour
- Color balance, matches the style's intended palette
- Resolution, upscaled if needed for the print format
- Subject correctness, confirms it's your pet, not a generic look-alike
If anything is off, we re-run from scratch with a different seed. You don't see this, it just happens. Most orders pass on the first generation; some need 1-2 re-runs. The whole pass takes about 24 hours.
Step 4: Print + handoff (1-2 days)
Approved portraits forward to our Printful US fulfillment partner. Canvases are printed and gallery-wrapped, framed prints get a wood frame + glass, mugs get heat-pressed, cards get printed and folded. Most orders are printed and handed to the carrier within 1-2 business days.
Step 5: Shipping transit (3-5 days US)
Most US orders ship via USPS Ground or UPS Ground (depending on destination). Tracking is emailed the moment your portrait leaves the press. Continental US delivery is typically 3-5 days. AK/HI add 1-2 days.
International shipping
We ship to US, Canada, UK, EU, and Australia. International shipping adds 3-7 days vs. US transit. Customs duties (if any) are calculated at checkout depending on destination.
Can I rush an order?
We don't currently offer paid rush shipping, because the QA step is the time bottleneck and we won't skip it. Order Mon-Wed and most orders deliver by the following Mon-Wed. If you have a gift deadline, order at least 10 days out for US, 14 days out for international.
If you have a tight deadline, email orders@paintedco.com with the date and we'll tell you honestly whether we can hit it.
How tracking works
You'll get three emails:
- Order received, immediately, with order details
- Printing started, after our human-review pass approves
- Shipped + tracking number, when it leaves the press
Tracking links go to USPS/UPS directly. If your portrait is delayed beyond 7 business days from "Printing started", reach out and we'll investigate.
What if my portrait is late?
Two safety nets. Before it ships: if anything in our pipeline is taking longer than expected, we email proactively, we don't make you chase. After it ships: if your portrait gets stuck in transit or arrives damaged, we replace it free. 30-day money-back guarantee covers everything else.
