12 Anniversary Gifts for Dog Owners (Under $150)

If your partner's dog has a calendar entry on the family fridge, this list is for you. A great anniversary gift for a dog owner doesn't have to be a portrait, but it almost always lands harder when it's about the dog.

We're a custom pet portrait studio, so yes, several of these are ours. But not all of them. Here are the picks that actually move the needle, ranked by how much they tend to make the recipient pause.

Under $25

1. A single custom greeting card with their dog on it ($8)

Get a portrait of their dog printed on a 5×7" matte-cover greeting card. Write your message inside. This is a "Tuesday anniversary" or sympathy card gift, not the main event, but unforgettable because it's specific.

2. A high-quality KONG Classic ($15)

The boring honest pick. If their dog destroys cheap toys in a day, the Black or Extreme rubber KONG is the only one that lasts. Not romantic, but they'll think of you every walk.

$25-50

3. A custom dog portrait mug ($29)

An 11oz ceramic mug with their dog rendered in Renaissance oil, Ghibli watercolor, or any of seven other styles. Dishwasher safe. They'll use it every morning for years.

4. A handwritten letter (free, time only)

Skip this section's other gifts and go write 600 words about your year together, but include three specific moments that involved the dog. Tape a photo of the dog to the back. Read it out loud. This will outscore anything you buy.

5. A pack of 5 custom dog portrait cards ($32)

A set of greeting cards with their dog on the front. Useful for thank-you notes and birthdays all year, a gift that keeps giving rather than peaking on day one.

$50-100

6. A 12×18" custom dog portrait poster ($49)

The right anniversary gift if they rent and don't want to commit to framed art. Museum-grade matte paper, 12×18 inches. Mat it cheaply at IKEA or hang it raw.

7. A weekend at a dog-friendly hotel ($80-200)

The Kimpton, Loews, and Margaritaville chains are reliably dog-welcoming with extras (water bowls, treats, sometimes a dog-walking service). One night somewhere with a king bed and a fireplace is the most-photographed anniversary in years.

8. A 12×16" custom dog portrait canvas ($79)

The gateway "real wall art" gift. Gallery-wrapped, ready to hang, no framing required. Pair with the matching mug for $99 total (we auto-discount $9 if both are in cart).

$100-150

9. A 16×20" framed custom portrait ($129)

The gift that hangs over the mantle. Royal, Renaissance, or Watercolor style all work. Solid wood frame, glass front. Looks expensive because it is.

10. A professional dog photoshoot ($120-250)

Book a 1-hour studio session for them and the dog. Most cities have a portrait photographer who specializes, search "dog photographer [city]". Bonus: those photos paint beautifully if you order a portrait afterward.

11. An engraved dog tag + a matching keychain ($30-60)

Get the dog a brass tag with both your phone numbers on it. Get your partner a leather keychain stamped with the dog's name. Tactile, daily, surprisingly emotional.

12. A donation to a rescue in the dog's name ($50-150)

Best Friends Animal Society, the local SPCA, or the specific rescue you adopted from. Print the receipt and tape a photo of the dog to it. This is the "we're not a buy-things couple" move.

The combo that always works

If you want a layered gift: a custom canvas portrait + a handwritten card with the dog on the front. Total under $90. The portrait is the unwrap moment; the card is what they keep on the desk.
